My son is 7 which means he grows out of his clothes in about a week! He also ruins his clothes and shoes in about a week too!
When I shop for back to school clothes and shoes I go to Ross and Marshalls and head straight for the clearance rack. Boys are pretty easy at the age of 7, while he is very particular about what he wears (basketball shorts and t-shirts) I can always find his clothes for a great price. I think the key is patience and traveling to a few different store.
In order to get the best deals and having to travel to different stores, I think it is a good idea to go on the Internet and look up all the stores I have in mind and map them out. Often times you will be able to find a Marshalls, Ross and/or TJ Maxx in the same area and a lot of times in the same shopping mall.
Here it goes!Tops:Ross & Marshalls!!!!! CHEAP shirts, if your children like the name brand items and you don't want to pay full price ALWAYS and I do mean ALWAYS head to Ross, Marshalls or TJ Maxx first. You will find Quiksilver, Hurley, Adidas, Nike, Puma, Billabong and many more name brand tee shirts ranging from $4.99 to 9.99 and often if you look through the clearance section first you will find many shirts on clearance before heading to the regular price racks. I know this is aimed to boys shopping that is because I have a son BUT I do know from browsing for my friends this also applies to adorable girls clothing in the best brands as well.
Bottoms: Again, Ross & Marshalls, especially for name brand items. You will finds all the name brand bottoms for kids ranging from $4.99 (for shorts and skirts) to $24.99. Most items you find for bottoms will be around $7.99 to $9.99 (department store tags are still attached, see for yourself....you are paying about half the price for your children's clothing.
Target and Walmart are great for basketball shorts, swimwear, socks, underwear and while you are there don't forgot to bring your school supply list. Wal Mart is CHEAP. I purchased all my son's school supplies for less than $30 at Wal Mart. Not too shabby.
Shoes: OLD NAVY.....Old Navy has GREAT sales. Actually if you prefer to do one stop shopping for clothes, shoes, socks, etc. Old Navy would be your best place to start. They have amazing sales you can find shirts for as little as $1.99, shorts as little at $2.99, shoes for 9.99 sometimes less and let's face it kids like Old Navy, their prices are right and it is a one stop shop so if you don't have a child that is picky in what they wear head to Old Navy first.
Are you more of an online shopper (my favorite kind!)?????www.oldnavy.comwww.gap.comwww.walmart.comwww.target.comwww.amazon.comWhen shopping online ALWAYS navigate to the clearance tab first, why spend more when you can get the same thing on clearance?????
I hope this little blog helps. Remember to take your patience with you and have a plan before you start driving around. Always try to go to one area for all your shopping even if you have to drive a little further, you will save time and money in the long run. Have a list of what you plan on buying . I suggest starting off with 7 shirts and 7 bottoms because kids grow so fast that if you stock up for the year the chances are by the time your child is ready to wear an item they may have outgrown it already.
Keep in mind that Target has a 3 month return policy which is GREAT. Tags must be attached but even if you lose your receipt you can give them your credit card that you used.
WalMart has a 3 month return policy too YOU MUST HAVE YOUR RECEIPT IN ORDER TO GET CASH BACK.
Marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx and most other stores have a strict 30 day return policy. You must have tags attached and your receipt.I am also a personal shopper if you want me to buy your back to school items for you email me with a list of items your child likes, sizes, quanities and I will do your shopping for you, ship it to you and if you have any problems you can return it for a refund. Eventually I plan on adding a men's and children's section to my site.
Happy Shopping!
